MEET CHRIS
Chris Allen, a field service supervisor at Bates, exemplifies the dedication to excellence and adaptability that are hallmarks of Midway's local technicians and leaders. He is known for his commitment to his craft and supporting the people around him.
BUILDING HIS CRAFT

Chris has had a lifetime to develop his expertise. He began working in the HVAC industry through his father's business, working there from high school into young adulthood before switching to electrical engineering at a hospital. He had another career transition when an opportunity came up at Bates. He was offered a job on the spot after interviewing. “Accepting the offer was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
At Bates, Chris primarily works in commercial HVAC. His previous experience was residential, but he embraced the learning curve with hard work and support from others. He credits much of his growth to mentorship from colleagues like Shane Kent, the current service manager at Bates, and encouragement from his wife.
THE MIDWAY TRANSITION
“Things were really good before, and they've only gotten better.”
Regarding Bates joining Midway, Chris recalls learning about the change in a company meeting. “It was definitely nerve-racking,” he admits. He was concerned about whether there would be any structural changes and how this might impact job security. However, he soon realized the transition was an opportunity to become more versatile and gain more industry experience. “Now that it's complete,” he reflects, “I definitely feel my job was never in jeopardy, just with more opportunity."
Asked about how things changed with Midway, he says, “Things were really good before, and they've only gotten better.” The most noticeable initial change for him was the increased vacation time and improved health insurance. Overall, he has seen minimal change in the daily operations, which he and the other technicians appreciate. He is looking forward to sharing knowledge and experiences with other MMS employees to gain a broader perspective on how the industry operates in different climates.
