MEET SHANE
When Shane Kent began as a Technician Assistant at Bates Air Conditioning in 2007, he could not have predicted that someday he would be Service Manager. Through dedication and ingenuity, that is exactly what happened.
JOINING MIDWAY
“Midway allowed us to function as usual.”
Shane shares that he was shocked and uncertain when he learned Bates was joining Midway. He and the other employees mostly wondered what kind of changes there would be to day-to-day operations. They quickly learned that Midway's approach was not to overhaul but to enhance. “Midway allowed us to function as usual,” he reflects. “Some immediate changes with health insurance, vacation time, and help with service vehicles allowed everyone to see the benefits of being part of Midway.”
AFTER THE TRANSITION
“The transition, from my perspective, couldn't have gone better."
When asked about how his work as Service Manager has changed with Midway, Shane says it “has given my position more structure and accountability." This new structure has enabled him to lighten his load and focus more effectively by delegating responsibilities, even affording him more free time outside of work.
Shane is happy for the growth offered by Bates’ partnership with Midway, both for him and the brand. He notes that Bates has been able to maintain their guiding ethos, “Right is right, and wrong is wrong,” while integrating. When asked for an overall assessment, he says the transition “couldn't have gone better” and has provided “endless growth opportunities.”
